Post Production 1- Editing the layout

In my peer review, I was made aware that my text was too close to the edge of the page and also too close to the images in my magazine. To fix this, I edited the layout and made my text more vertical by using columns and I got rid of the black spot on the first page of my feature article. By doing this, I was able to organize the article more and make it easier for people to read. Also, I edited the second page of the feature article by organizing a section with a daily workout routine she has. In order to include this I added a textbox in red to draw the reader's attention. I also positioned the images to take up most of the page and I added some context for one of the images with a short paragraph on Marie's progress.

Peer Review

Last week in class Darsham and I showcased our magazine, Health-ful. It was so nice getting feedback from our classmates because it made me aware of what we need to change. The big issue with our magazine that we need to change is making the layout identical besides the feature article. We didn't realize that the formatting of the magazine was suppose to be identical, we just thought that the concept had to be the same. Overall, there weren't any big differences in our magazines except for the layout of the cover and content page. Darsham and I are going to get together this week and make changes to our magazine to make sure they are matching up by the time we send the final to Cambridge. Personally, for my magazine, my peers told me that my text was too close to the edge of the page. I think that this might have been a formatting issue when I converted the magazine into Blogger but this is an easy fix that I will get done this week. Right now I have some concerns for our proj...

1st Draft Done: Health-Ful

Magazine   The link above is for my magazine, Health-Ful, and will showcase the cover page, the content page, and two pages for my feature article. The magazine itself is a healthy lifestyle magazine based around fitness.

Production 6- Importing photos into InDesign

Today I am importing my photos for the cover and feature article of the magazine. I have to figure InDesign out a little better because some of the tools are confusing to me. By the end of today I will have my cover done and I'm going to start laying out my feature article with the photos. I already have my feature article written so by the end of today everything should be all set up and just needing some finishing touches. I'm going to put the photo of Marie downtown as the cover because it fits the best since it was taken vertical. I am going to put the other photos in the feature article and include her interview as part of the feature article.

Production 5- Feature article

Marie Nguyen is a local seventeen year old fitness influencer who became interested in maintaining a healthy lifestyle last year. To give some background on Marie, last year she was at a low place in her life when she decided to take control. When interviewed she was asked, "When and why did you decide to pursue a healthier lifestyle?" In response, she talked about her battle with her mental health and how she struggled to be consistent and could hardly get out of bed some days. A big topic trending is how mental health is linked to exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Marie was at rock bottom last year and while she still currently struggles with her mental health, working out has brought her clarity and a feeling of control over her life. There has been recent research on how exercising benefits your mental health. According to recent studies, running just 15 minutes a day can reduce depression by 15%. Marie talked about how much she enjoys running and stands by this fact.  D...

Production 4- Answers to the Interview Questions

Marie got back to me with the answers to the six questions I asked concerning her journey and experience with pursuing a healthy lifestyle.  1. When and why did you decide to pursue a healthier lifestyle? I decided to pursue a healthier lifestyle at the beginning of the junior year. I'll be honest, it wasn't easy to get started. I struggled to be consistent when it came to working out. Some days I looked forward to going to the gym but others I could barely get out of bed. Anyone that says that it's easy to create a workout routine and follow a healthy diet is lying. It takes time, focus, and dedication. You have to remember the goals that you set in the beginning. I'm not talking about the easy goals to hit next week. I mean the big goals. The ones that you don't even believe are possible. That is why I have been able to stay true to myself and my fitness journey.  2. How has fitness helped your mental health? It has given me clarity. It allowed me to see what matt...

Production 3- Camera shots

Image
On December 21st I went to Marina Jack and Downtown to take photos of Marie for the feature article and cover. Marina Jack is a park right near Sarasota Bay Front and has a walking trail along with restaurants and boat docks. I chose the location, Marina Jack, because I knew there were many opportunities to get a feel for the healthy lifestyle. Downtown is right near Marina Jack so I thought it was convenient to get a few photos there. The photo of Marie downtown is going to be used for my cover because it is a medium long shot that gets her whole body as well as the buildings behind her. The other photos are primarily medium shots but one of the photos is a wide shot as you can see the water and buildings behind her.
